Year 8 score a place at the ISA National Finals!

On Wednesday 16 November the Year 8 netball team travelled to Sherfield School to play in the ISA Netball Tournament.

We started off strongly against Sherfield and won the first game which gave us a boost in confidence. Our second game was against Claire’s Court. Known for their strong netball skills, this was going to be a challenge. This was a fast paced game but we kept our nerve, played well and won again.

The third game we played was the closest one yet. We played Mayville and started well and were winning in the first half. Unfortunately we lost our rhythm in the second half, allowing Mayville to score some goals. The score was 5-5 before the whistle went and we thought it was all over, but it turned out that we had a penalty in the final seconds. Giselle took the penalty and scored. Meaning we had won!

Confidence was high leading to our fourth game which was against LVS. Again, we worked well as a team and kept scoring goals, securing our fourth win out of four games.

Then we were in the semi finals and up against Ibstock Place. This was our hardest game yet and although we played well, they were stronger and just beat us.

Our last game was to play the losers of the other semi final to fight for third place. We were up against Mayville again but this time we were even more focused and determined and stayed strong until the end to secure third place…and a place in the National Finals.

Well done Hawley!
