Year 5 take their Geography Studies Further Afield

As part of their Geography Studies Year 5 went to Rowhill Nature Reserve in Aldershot to find the source of the River Blackwater. They were surprised to see the start of the river in the clay bog area and followed it through the reserve where it widened to about 50 cm and was a depth of just  a few centimetres. After lunch we went by  minibus to Hawley Meadows,  an area most didn’t know existed near ‘Gravity Force’ where we found the river was now much wider and deeper.  We measured the width to be 8 metres, attempted to measuring the speed of flow and had a great time pond dipping.
