Headline GCSE Figures 2017

Nearly three times the national average of level 9

25% of all Maths and English grades at levels 8 & 9

10% grade 9 in English alone

Two thirds of all grades at A* – A

90% of all grades at A* – B

We were very proud of all our Year 11 pupils, when on 24 August they received their GCSE results. Despite the transition to a new grade system 90% of all grades achieved were at A* – B with 65% at A* and A. 10% of all English grades were awarded level 9.  Our pupils achieved nearly 3 times the national average for Level 9s, clearly manifesting our academic credentials.

In addition over half of all GCSE students attained a grade 9 or 8 in Maths and/or English and 90% accomplished A* – A grades in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Some outstanding performances from Head Girl – Alexa Rendell who achieved (the equivalent of) 8A*s and 2 As and Lottie Capel who achieved well-deserved 9s in both her English Language and English Literature exams.

Headmaster Michael Stone expressed his delight at the results achieved by the pupils at Hawley Place.  ‘We are incredibly proud of our pupils who have worked exceptionally hard and fully deserve their success.  In a time of transition and change we are happy that the level of performance has been so high.  To achieve nearly three times the national average of level 9s awarded was astounding – though our success as a family and as a community includes all pupils, rather than just those that achieve the top grades.  We wish all our pupils the very best as they now take the next exciting step in their learning journey.’
