Last Saturday saw three Year 9 pupils, Rebecca March, Alexa Rendell and Elsbeth Riley, competing at All Hallows School in the Aldershot Rotary Club round of the RIBI – Rotary Young Chef Competition. Competitors were challenged to prepare, cook and serve a three course meal for two in just two hours within a £15.00 budget. The food they produced was amazing and the judge’s feedback was exceptionally complimentary.
They thought this year’s participants were the best they had ever had in terms of skills demonstrated, use of time, presentation of food and quality of food. In fact they took considerably longer than usual to come to a decision and told us that they would have preferred not to have had to select a winner!
Clearly being a competition they had to and sadly for us it was a young man from Farnborough Tech who will go forward to represent our area at the Merton College area stage.
It was a great experience for the girls who all received certificates of participation from the local Rotary Chairman who had had the opportunity to taste the end results and was suitably impressed with the delicious dishes!
