Junior School Admissions

Admission to the Junior School is usually into the Reception Class. However, pupils are considered for admission into any year group during any term after discussion with the Principal. Prospective parents normally visit the school first with their child to meet the Principal and discuss their requirements. They also have an opportunity to view the school in action by visiting the facilities and some classes. Children are given the opportunity to spend one or two trial days in the appropriate class group. There are no formal Entrance Tests for pupils wishing to enter Reception – Year 4. The Principal will require a copy of the child’s latest school report and the Hawley Place class teachers submit a brief report to the Principal, following the child’s visit, commenting on general all-round ability compared to the rest of the class group and the prospects of harmonious social integration within the group. For entry into Year 5 or Year 6, there are also formal Entrance Tests in Verbal Reasoning, Mathematics and English.

Before any class visits take place, parents are required to complete the school Registration Form and pay the non-returnable £50 Registration Fee. If a place is offered, to complete the admission procedure, an Acceptance Form needs to be completed and an Acceptance Deposit (£300) is payable. This deposit is retained by the school until the pupil leaves.
