ISA National Cross Country Competition

It was a windy day in Warwickshire and five of our school’s finest runners made the 200 mile round trip to Princethorpe College to compete in the ISA National Cross Country Event.   Luckily the rain had passed and it was a dry morning, even if it was a little cold.  The Hawley Place athletes had been selected to represent the London West region as they finished in the top 10 of the regional event that was held at Sherfield School a few weeks ago.

The U12 girls were the first race of the day and all 3 of our girls showed their recent good form by finishing very strongly, Emma  (2nd – Silver), Freya (7th) and Isabelle (25th).  The London West team finished 2nd overall, helped by the performances of our girls.  Emma was complaining of a sore ankle when she finished, which was later diagnosed as a fracture that she sustained in the first half of the race.  Meaning that she essentially ran most of the race with one leg, so huge congratulations to her for winning the silver!

The U12 boys were next up, the wind had picked up making the conditions even more difficult.  Both Harvey and Miles ran a solid race finishing 42nd and 49th respectively.  They helped the boys team to finish 1st overall.  A huge congratulations must go to our 5 pupils for representing London West and Hawley Place in such fine form.
