U12 FA cup second round V Dedworth Middle School – Monday 30 October

After a long half term break, our senior boys were straight into it, with a match on the first day back.  Dedworth made the journey over from Slough for our second round matchup.

From the off, it was a fast-paced game, which moved from end-to-end.  Both teams linked play well and showed superb passing football.  Toby, Bertie, and Daniel linked well in midfield to provide us with possession in the middle of the park.  As the half developed neither team could break the deadlock.  Johnny was, once again, solid at centre back, and Eelis put on a superb display of goalkeeping ability, leading to a 0-0 score at halftime.

In the second half the game opened up, and unfortunately for Hawley Place, the visitors began to show their class.  Some very fast attacking play saw Dedworth starting to dominate the game going 3-0 up.  A great second half defensive performance from Cameron kept us in the game, for a period, but as we chased the game gaps developed.  The final score being 5-0, a flattering scoreline for our visitors but a deserved win.

Team: Eelis, Alex, Connor, Johnny, Cameron, Daniel S, Charlie O, Bertie, Toby, Tom & Harry F.

Man of the match: Cameron for his ‘never-give-up’ attitude.
